The Betpawa league week six match between Kotoku Royals and Samatex 1996 was rained off and hence postponed to Thursday, 18th November 2022, 10am at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
The match was stopped in the 65th by referee Musey Robert after it was apparent that the soggy nature of the pitch due to the heavy downpour wouldn’t allow a free flowing game.
Referee Musey then called for both captains to make a decision to call off the game when it was still goalless.
FIRST HALF
Kotoku Royals were off colour in the first half creating few chances and allowing the opponents to dominate the game.
Samatex had the best chance in the first half after a deflected shot from forward Eric Bosomtwe hit the woodwork in the 31st minute before goalie Dabi Acquah could make a save.
There was a shout for penalty by Kotoku Royals in the closing minute of the first half with striker Augustine Boakye claiming his shot at goal struck the hand of Samatex defender Abusah. But to the disappointment of our fans, the referee didn’t see his claims as legitimate.
SECOND HALF
The second half started on a bright note for Kotoku Royals with Augustine Boakye heading a chance just wide of the post.
However, Samatex came back in the game dictating the pace of the game.
In the 51st minute, our goalie Dabi Acquah made a timely save to keep us in the game following a one and one encounter with opposing forward Dauda Seidu. He was on hand again to keep the team in the game three minutes later saving a similar with Seidu.
The rain was heavy from that moment and made the match scrappy with players missing chances and putting themselves at risk of injury.
The match will continue from the 65 minute where it ended on Thursday at the same venue.
The Royals are hoping to record a historic first victory in the Ghanaian top flight in their debut season in the league
