Kotoku Royals record victory over Berekum Chelsea to end a eight-match winless streak

Kotoku Royals have ended their winless streak following a 2-1 home win against Berekum Chelsea.
The Royals who had lost previous eight outings in the league had to dig deep to come from behind to record their second win of the season at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Friday afternoon.

Berekum Chelsea drew first blood in the ninth minute of the game through Burkinabe international Quattara Kalo.
Kotoku Royals had to wait for over twenty minutes to give a perfect response by getting the equalizer through Edward Mensah in the 31st minute. Richard Dzikoe scored the second for the Royals four minutes later to ensure that Kotoku Royals went into the break with a 2-1 lead and eventually proving to be the match winner.

After recess both sides created a lot of chances but were unable to find the back of the net.
Interim coach John Aduafuo Junior’s strategy for most part of the second half was clearly to protect his lead hence shaping his team to be very resolute at the back. The strategy paid off as the Royals recorded their second win of the season to give them some reprieval following a run of bad results.

The victory means Kotoku Royals have seven points from eleven games thus far, but are languishing at the bottom of the table.
The Royals travel away to leaders Aduana Stars on Thursday.
